#SICT.- The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT) through the Mexican Space Agency (AEM), announced that the “National Congress of Space Activities” (CONACES 2024), the most important space event in Mexico, will be held in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, on November 7 and 8.

With the social vision of becoming the epicenter of space development in Mexico, this city offers the ideal conditions to host CONACES, due to its proximity to SpaceX, the presence of universities and top-level research centers on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border.

“Within AEM’s National Space Activities Program (PNAE), this fifth edition of CONACES, now at the Mundo Nuevo Convention Center in Matamoros, will boost the solid development of the national space sector and its industry,” said AEM’s general director, Salvador Landeros Ayala.

While the general coordinator of Human Capital Formation of the AEM, Carlos Duarte Muñoz, recalled that every year CONACES brings together the most important actors in the sector, to exchange ideas and establish alliances, which has been key to consolidate the great space community that Mexico already has today, as well as to show its potential and achievements to the world.

This space knowledge festival includes keynote lectures, workshops, round tables, and face-to-face sessions, which allow the inclusion of national actors in projects of national and international scope, in addition to attracting the vocations of our children and youth in Mexico and Latin America to science and technology.

This year’s theme is “Space for sustainability”, since space development is key to the sustainability of life on Earth, highlighting that our public policies must contribute to ensure the needs of the present, without compromising the needs of future generations.
