#SECTUR.- The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) pointed out that in the case of domestic flights, the figure of passengers transported in the same period of 2019 is exceeded with 14.7%; while, in international flights, the increase is 6.8% more than in 2023; also exceeding with 18.6% the passengers transported from January to July 2019.
He pointed out that, with respect to domestic flights, the airlines with the highest passenger flow during the first seven months of the year were Viva Aerobus and Volaris, which transported 24 million 818 thousand passengers, surpassing the passengers of the same period of 2019, with 59.8%.
He informed that the top five airlines with the highest passenger arrivals on domestic flights during the months of January to July 2024 were: Viva Aerobus with 13 million 201 thousand passengers; Volaris with 11 million 617 thousand passengers; Aeroméxico with 7 million 376 thousand passengers; Aeroméxico Connect with 2 million 551 thousand passengers; and Mexicana with 155 thousand 196 passengers transported.
Torruco Marqués specified that the main Mexican airlines that transported passengers on international flights from January to July 2024 were Aeroméxico and Volaris with 7 million 846 thousand passengers, which represents 13% more than in that period of 2023 and 32.8% more compared to passengers in the same period of 2019.
The U.S. airlines that, during the period from January to July 2024 had the highest passenger flow were American Airlines and United Airlines, which transported 8 million 436 thousand passengers, this is 8.5% more than in this same period of 2023; also surpassing the passengers of the same period of 2019 with 50%.
With respect to passengers carried on international flights during the first seven months of the year, according to the main markets, North America concentrates a share of 86.4% of the total, of which, from the U.S. market, 17 million 553 thousand passengers were transported, with an increase of 5.4% more than in the same period of 2023.
