Unemployment rate decreases in the second quarter of 2024 in the State of Mexico: Sedeco / @Edomex >>>
#EstadoDeMéxico.- So far this year 2024, the Employed Population of the State of Mexico showed a positive trend by going from 7 million 814 thousand 544 registered in the second quarter of 2023 to 8 million 163 thousand 741 in the second quarter of this year 2024, that is, there was an increase of 349 thousand 197 people employed, which meant an annual growth rate of 4.5 percent.
According to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), in its National Survey of Occupation and Employment (ENOE), this figure keeps the entity in first place, with 13.8 percent of employment nationwide with 59.3 million people employed.
The unemployment rate decreased from 3.6 percent in the first quarter of 2024 to 3.3 percent in the second quarter, which means that 26,608 Mexicans will join the labor market.
Laura González Hernández, head of the Secretariat of Economic Development, pointed out that the Government of Mrs. Delfina Gómez Álvarez is interested in the benefit and labor dynamism of the people of Mexico, especially those who have a business.
She added that the strategies implemented have allowed that in the second quarter of the year more than 20 thousand people left the informal sector, going from 54.3 percent to 53.2 percent, a rate 1.2 percentage points lower than those reported in the first quarter of 2024.
Sectorally, the Employed Population breaks down as follows: Commerce with 1 million 976 thousand 760; Manufacturing Industry with 1 million 253 thousand 606; Professional, Financial and Corporate Services with 890 thousand 975; Miscellaneous Services with 859 thousand 973; Social Services 692 thousand 738; and Other sectors with 2 million 489 thousand 689.
