With completion of PPP contract, Issste recovers General Hospital “Dr. Daniel Gurría Urgell” / @BerthaAlcalde @ISSSTE_mx >>>

#ISSSTE.- In order to move forward in the eradication of privatization in the health sector, the General Director of the Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado (Issste), Bertha Alcalde Luján, signed with the representative of the company Promotora y Desarrolladora Mexicana, S. A. de C.V. (Prodemex), Antonio Boullosa Madrazo, the agreement which initiates the process for the Institute to take back control of the “Dr. Daniel Gurría Urgell” General Hospital, located in Villahermosa, Tabasco, as of December 26.

At the National Palace and accompanied by representatives of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP), the CEO highlighted that the agreement is the result of the efforts of the legal and administrative areas of the institute, and the willingness of the developer to finalize the contract in public-private partnership (PPP) modality.

“In these months of transition we have to jointly guarantee that services do not stop and that the quality of care does not diminish, that it is an orderly process so that our teams can resume the tasks that you have been doing all this time”.

For President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and for Issste, these agreements are one of the sector’s top priorities. It was a challenge to achieve this goal of acquiring the hospitals in PPPs; however, it has been achieved in a very short time, he said.

As a result of these agreements, the agency has now added two hospitals to its catalog of medical units, since last August 28, the Clínica Hospital Mérida in Susulá, Yucatán became the property of the institute. The commitment is that the medical units belong to the people and that the honest and austere use of public resources is guaranteed.
