#SICT.- Upon presenting the identification plates for electric vehicles that provide federal transportation services and their auxiliary services, the Undersecretary of Communications and Transportation (SICT), Rogelio Jiménez Pons, affirmed that this is a transcendental step forward for the benefit of the environment.

Accompanied by the general directors of Autotransporte Federal, Laura Nohémi Muñoz Benítez and BY Delectrico, Lorena Martínez Álvarez, Jiménez Pons pointed out that these actions are a commitment with the environment, with society and the communities, for which substantial changes will have to be made, a culture of environmental responsibility must be created.

He emphasized that it is indispensable that the entire vehicle fleet transitions as soon as possible to the electric issue, which means a commitment to generate optimal infrastructure conditions and a culture in society.

In her speech, Laura Nohémi Muñoz Benítez, General Director of Autotransporte Federal, indicated that an extraordinary work has been developed in the transportation sector on relevant issues such as electrification and that efforts must continue to be made towards the goal of decarbonization and reduction of polluting emissions in the vehicles that provide federal transportation services in the country.

The challenges of climate change demand that the automotive industry in Mexico not only meets basic mobility needs, but also does so in a sustainable, safe, accessible manner and, above all, without emissions that are harmful to the health of the population, he added.

He recognized the efforts of the chambers and associations to promote the transition to new technologies, since the collective and global strength of public and private organizations is important for them to adopt these practices as part of their contributions to the goals of sustainable development.
