#SECTUR.- The head of the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) informed that, from January to July of this year, cities registered 27.6 million tourists to hotel rooms, while beach resorts received 21.3 million tourists to hotel rooms.
He indicated that, in this period, hotel occupancy reached 60.2% in the total of the monitored centers, while, in the city destinations, 52.8% was registered, which in relation to the 52.2% registered in the same period of 2023, means an increase of 0.7 percentage points, while, for the beach centers, the occupancy level was 68.3%.
He pointed out that, from January to July 2024, the resorts that stand out for hotel occupancy are: Playacar with 89%, Akumal with 81.6%, Cabo San Lucas with 80.3%, Nuevo Nayarit with 80.2%, Cancun 77.2%, and Puerto Vallarta with 73.9% being the destinations with the highest occupancy levels.
Torruco Marqués pointed out that in contrast, the Integrally Planned Centers with 74.9% occupancy and the inland cities with 48% are the extremes with the highest occupancy.
In the first seven months of this year, the average number of occupied rooms reached a level of 263,234 units, which is 0.3% more than the same period last year.
For beach resorts, an average of 141,519 occupied rooms were recorded, while in city destinations, the number of occupied rooms was 121,715, representing an increase of 1.9% over the same period of 2023.
