In 10 years, justice delivery will be better due to Judicial Branch reform: AMLO / @lopezobrador_ @GobiernoMX >>>
#GobiernoDeMéxico.- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador is confident that the constitutional reform to the Judicial Power will improve the administration of justice in the country in the next ten years due to the fact that the people of Mexico will democratically elect judges, magistrates and ministers. “All changes are good, all renewal processes are important and that is why I am confident that in ten years the administration of justice will be much better,” he stated.
In a morning press conference he stated that there will be prompt and expeditious justice for the people, contrary to what is currently happening within the Judicial Power, which is “taken, trapped, kidnapped and is only at the service of a minority and of crime”.
“That is why it only serves those who have influence, both from organized crime and white collar crime (…) It became an anonymous, unknown power, where no judge, no magistrate, no minister was ever monitored, questioned, punished”, he stressed.
The President reaffirmed that the judicial reform consolidates the free, secret and direct vote, as happens in the elections to elect municipal presidents, local and federal deputies, senators, governors and the Presidency of the Republic.
Candidates for positions in the Judiciary must meet the requirement of being qualified lawyers; their profiles will be analyzed by a commission in order to know their professional capabilities.
In this way, he said, the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches will propose ten equal candidates to be voted by the people of Mexico.
“The judge is going to be appointed by the people, he or she is not going to owe a favor to anyone; he or she is going to be elected by the citizens and that is democracy. And, the same, the magistrates and ministers,” he pointed out.
