#ISSSTE.- The Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado (Issste) recognizes and trains the medical personnel of the 1,115 medical units of the three levels of care in the implementation of actions and protocols for the treatment and care of the 13.8 million beneficiaries, with the aim of improving health services.
As part of World Patient Safety Day, Issste’s Medical Directorate held academic conferences and presented the Orange Recognition to representatives of the institute’s medical units for their professionalism in the different areas in which they work, as well as an incentive to continue to have an impact on the wellbeing of its members.
The Deputy Director of Prevention and Health Protection of the Medical Directorate, Vanessa Vizcarra Munguía, pointed out that, with the slogan “Correct diagnoses, safe patients”, these workshops allow for the exchange of improvement projects in the Institute’s clinics and hospitals. The purpose is to “identify these good practices and lead them to improve and raise the level of quality and safety of our medical units”.
He pointed out that over the last few years we have undertaken intersectoral collaborative work, which has enabled the institute to advance in the transformation of the sector to provide quality care. The purchase of high-tech equipment for the timely diagnosis of diseases, particularly those with the greatest impact, such as breast cancer, vascular and cerebral diseases, among others, stands out.
These actions make it possible to reduce waiting times to ensure diagnoses in early stages; however, this would not be useful without the institute’s medical talent. “I am grateful for the work of the health professionals, especially those who are at the first level of care, since their knowledge and continuous training are essential to streamline the service and refer to the second and third level”.
