President decrees restitution of 392 hectares of land to Yaqui people; delivers aqueduct and expansion of irrigation district / @GobiernoMX >>>

#GobiernoDeMéxico.- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador signed in Guaymas, Sonora the decree of restitution of 392.29 additional hectares of land that are given in collective property to the Yaqui people as part of the Justice Plan created by the Government of the Fourth Transformation and unanimously accepted among the communities.

“It is very significant that we are here and that we are concluding a first stage in the transformation with the fulfillment of the Yaqui Justice Plan because the first time we came to offer apologies and forgiveness, but at the same time this Justice Plan for the Yaqui people was initiated and progress has been made,” he said.

In the esplanade of the community of Vícam Pueblo, the President also delivered to the population the Yaqui Aqueduct and the expansion of the 018 irrigation district, hydraulic works that guarantee the human right to water and will strengthen agricultural production in the region.

The Yaqui Aqueduct is a priority project that will supply a flow of 200 liters of water per second in sufficient quality and quantity for 42,200 inhabitants of 53 communities. The construction investment was 2,55.6 billion pesos between 2022 and 2024.

The 166-kilometer pipeline starts at the intake located at the Oviachic dam and pumps the flow. The water treatment plant is divided into two modules that treat 100 liters per second each.

The administration of the aqueduct will be mixed. During the first year of operation it will be carried out between the State Water Commission of Sonora and the Yaqui people; later it will be transferred exclusively to the Yaqui people.
