#SICT.- Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares (ASA) has demonstrated a firm commitment to modernizing airport infrastructure and maintaining competitive airports at international standards, said Jorge Nuño Lara, Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT).

At the head of the event “A new model for airport transformation”, Nuño Lara said that, with the collaboration of the SICT, ASA and Grupo Aeroportuario Turístico Mexicano (GATM), without additional resources or public debt, but through a concession, it is possible to promote expansion projects for the airports of Tepic and Puerto Escondido.

Investments of 4,133 million pesos and 3,028 million pesos, respectively, have been made in Puerto Escondido to rehabilitate the runway, taxiways, build a new general aviation apron and improve airport security.

These works, plus other expansions and the construction of a new terminal building, will provide greater comfort to passengers, he said.

At the Tepic airport, with an investment of more than 4 billion pesos, the construction and modernization of runways, waiting rooms, a new control tower, among others, was completed. “With this, the airport will have the capacity to process 4 million passengers per year”.

The results, the Secretary emphasized, are already visible. This year the Tepic airport already had its first international flight from Los Angeles, and the arrival of 19 national and international airlines is expected.

Nuño Lara emphasized that strengthening the country’s airport infrastructure enables economic development and connectivity for communities. “Our airports are the gateways to progress.”
