#GobiernoDeMéxico.- In the latest report on Mexico’s main socioeconomic data, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador highlighted the population’s trust in the authorities and the decrease in the incidence of crime due to attention to the causes.
According to the National Survey on Government Quality and Impact of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), in 2023, 59.1 percent of the population trusted in the actions of the Presidency of the Republic and the Mexican State Secretariats. In 2017, the year of Enrique Peña Nieto’s six-year term, it stood at 25.5 percent.

Five years after its creation, 77 percent of the adult population expressed confidence in the National Guard according to INEGI. As of June, the new corporation ranks only below the Ministry of the Navy, with 88.7 percent; the Mexican Air Force, with 86 percent; and the Mexican Army, with 83.9 percent.

The Government of the Fourth Transformation decreased 19 percent the crime of intentional homicide compared to the two previous six-year terms due to the priority attention to the people and the public security support of the Secretariats of the National Defense and the Navy, as well as the National Guard.

In the six-year term of Felipe Calderón (2006-2012) there was a record 192.8 percent increase in intentional homicide, while the administration of Enrique Peña Nieto (2012-2018) registered a 59 percent increase in the trend, according to a comparison from 1990 to 2023 based on figures from INEGI and the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP).
