70% progress in construction of bridge connecting Neza with Chimalhuacán >>>

#EstadoDeMéxico.- The municipal president of Nezahualcóyotl, Adolfo Cerqueda, informed that there is already 70 percent progress in the construction of the new bridge on Avenida López Portillo and Chimalhuacán Avenue extension, after the collapse of the one located near the Los Rosales cemetery.

This bridge connects residents of the Ejidos de San Agustín and Izcalli de Nezahualcóyotl neighborhoods with the districts of Chimalhuacán, Jardines de San Agustín, Villa San Agustín Atlapulco and Israel and Los Olivos.

The government of the State of Mexico and municipal authorities agreed on its construction last May, after the collapse of the iron bridge “Los Rosales” on November 2, 2023, which left 13 people injured, not seriously, who were going to the cemetery of the same name in the municipality of Chimalhuacán, to leave flowers and offerings to their deceased in the framework of the Day of the Dead.

During this time and due to the lack of a pedestrian bridge, hundreds of residents who cross daily between the municipalities of Chimalhuacán and Nezahualcóyotl, have had to use, even though it puts them at risk, the vehicular bridge in a temporarily delimited area and even bridges that have closure signs, so as not to have to walk up to a kilometer.

The government of Mrs. Delfina Gómez invested 4.2 million pesos in this work in which prefabricated concrete beams with metal handrails were used and additional protection was implemented.
