Spending of Spanish tourists in Mexico grows 15.5% in the current administration >>>

#SECTUR.- The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) also highlighted that, from January to July 2024, 202 thousand 525 tourists arrived in Mexico by air from Spain, and a tourist expenditure of 239 million 977 thousand dollars, surpassing with 27.1% what was registered in the first seven months of 2018.

He indicated that from 2018 to 2023, tourist arrivals were received from 5 cities in Spain, Madrid and Barcelona being the main ones, to 5 destinations in Mexico, and highlighted that in 2024, 3 thousand 546 flights are scheduled from Spain to Mexico, that is 7.1% more than in 2023, with a supply of one million 112 thousand 14 scheduled seats, which represents 4.9% more than last year.

Torruco Marqués pointed out that the main destinations in Mexico where tourism from this European nation arrives are: Mexico City, Cancun, Guadalajara, Monterrey and San Jose del Cabo.

The main airlines with Spain-Mexico-Spain routes in the first seven months of 2024 were: Aeroméxico, with 38.1%; Iberia, with 35.2%; World 2 Fly, 7.2%; Emirates, with 7.2%; and Air Europa, with 6.4%.

He informed that, for this year, 988,400 passengers are expected to arrive in Mexico from the four main cities in Spain, which is 7.3% more than the arrivals in 2023; and a total revenue of 1.113 billion dollars is expected.

The head of SECTUR highlighted the importance of tourism from Spain, given the close cultural and economic ties that unite both countries, in addition to the great interest of this market in learning about Mexico’s tourist wealth, which was presented at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in Madrid, and of which Mexico will be the Partner Country in 2025; in addition to the fact that this country hosted the first edition of the International Magic Towns Tianguis, held in Barcelona, in 2022.
