#EstadoDeMéxico.- The State of Mexico became the first entity in the country to put into operation a Hybrid Cold Chamber for vaccine storage, with a capacity to store up to 400,000 doses of biologicals in optimal conditions.

This new infrastructure is located in the Warehouse of the Health Institute of the State of Mexico (ISEM) in Metepec and adds to the reinforcement of the state’s cold storage network, which is currently the largest in the Republic.

The State Secretary of Health, Macarena Montoya Olvera, informed that this chamber allows keeping the vaccines at freezing temperatures down to minus 20 degrees Celsius, besides keeping them in a range of between 2 and 8 degrees, thus ensuring that the doses reach people in optimal conditions, from their reception to their application.

The official pointed out that this investment in technology is a key step to improve the protection of the population against preventable diseases and affirmed that the project is in line with the objectives of expanding health services, especially in terms of vaccination coverage.

For his part, Rodrigo Rodriguez Briseño, ISEM’s Health Coordinator, mentioned that this advance is part of the effort to maintain the coverage of the 13 biologicals that make up the basic vaccination scheme in Mexico, and recalled that the country has one of the most complete programs worldwide.
