#SRE.- The Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Juan Ramón de la Fuente Ramírez, presented today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the foreign policy priorities of the Government of Mexico, headed by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, as well as appointments in his office.

During her speech, she pointed out that the Government of President Claudia Sheinbaum “arrives with a very broad popular support, perhaps as never seen before […] it is now up to us to give continuity to this transformation of national public life, to try to find the best formulas so that foreign policy, on the one hand, benefits from this transformation but, at the same time, contributes so that this transformation is enriched.” “Following our constitutional principles of foreign policy has been extraordinarily valuable in the history of Mexico and in particular of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE),” he remarked.

“Mexico is seen as a reliable country, Mexico is seen as a bridge country, Mexico is seen as a country that is capable of finding, with diplomatic skill, alternatives and exits,” he stressed.

The Foreign Minister shared the foreign policy priorities of the Mexican Government, including, the defense and protection of the Mexican community abroad. “We are here to defend national sovereignty and the interests of Mexico and, precisely for this reason, we will make the defense of the communities of our nationals a priority of the foreign policy of this six-year term,” he stressed.

Likewise, he emphasized that the Mexican Foreign Service (SEM) will be strengthened, “I bring no other agenda but to strengthen the SEM, I come to work shoulder to shoulder with all of you, to rethink the best role that can come to Mexico in this international context […] I really want to strengthen, as far as possible, that vocation of service that is one of the greatest values that the SEM has […] and strengthen the Matias Romero Institute”, he stressed.
