#SICT.- The Government of Mexico starts the AIFA-Pachuca Passenger Train, a railway work that will connect the state of Hidalgo with the metropolitan area of Mexico City, which will benefit more than 100 thousand people daily, informed the Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT), Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina.
During the start of preliminary works for the construction of the Mexico-Pachuca train, headed by the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, who was also accompanied by the governor of Hidalgo, Julio Menchaca Salazar, the head of the SICT explained that the AIFA-Pachuca route consists of 64 kilometers, of which, 14 are in elevated structure and with some level crossing crossings. This will be built on the existing right-of-way.
During the event, two agreements were signed, where the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, signed as a witness of honor: the SEMARNAT-SICT memorandum of understanding, and the SICT-SEDENA Framework Collaboration Agreement.
The head of the SICT highlighted that the work will have an investment of 50 billion pesos and will generate close to 40 thousand direct and indirect jobs.
The train has electrified double track railway infrastructure; from Mexico City to Pachuca there are 106 kilometers. In addition, the rolling stock will be a fleet of electric trains with a maximum speed of 120 kilometers per hour and a capacity of more than 700 passengers.
The time reduction from AIFA to Pachuca will be 50 percent, that is, it will go from 40 minutes to 20 minutes. In the case of Mexico City to Pachuca, a 25 percent reduction in time is estimated.
