ASA joins global efforts for inclusion and use of Sustainable Aviation Fuels / @jorgenunol @SICT_mx >>>
#SICT.- With defined actions and experience of almost 60 years in the national and international aeronautical sector, Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares (ASA) is working on the development of a sustainable aviation fuel production program in Mexico, which will meet the current and future needs of the sector to achieve the goal of zero net emissions by 2050, and thereby reduce the impact of this sector on the atmosphere.
With the participation of public servants and actors of the national and international aeronautical sector, ASA held the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in Mexico 2024 Forum, in the facilities of the International Training Center of ASA (CIIASA).
As part of the work being carried out in Mexico to achieve the goal set by the member states of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) of zero net emissions of greenhouse gases by 2050 (Net Zero), presentations were made by the main actors involved, national and international, to present various points of view on the process and progress in the generation of sustainable aviation fuels in our country.
During the forum, it became clear that for ASA it is a medium-term objective to have these fuels in the country in order to meet Mexico’s commitments to the ICAO, as part of the Carbon Offset and Reduction Scheme for International Civil Aviation (Corsia). For this reason, the agency is working, together with the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), on what is called the “Roadmap”, which is based on a feasibility study to examine demand, availability of raw materials and the degree of technological maturity of the country, involving actors from the following sectors: government, aeronautics, energy, agriculture and academia.
