GEM strengthens comprehensive care for women in Mexico with the services offered in the Women’s Cities / @Edomex >>>

#EstadoDeMéxico.- The Government of the State of Mexico, through the Secretariat for Women (SeMujeres), reaffirms its commitment to transforming the lives of women, adolescents and girls in the State of Mexico, guaranteeing their access to full personal and professional development, as well as their autonomy and safety, free from violence, through the Women’s Cities, which operate in the municipalities of La Paz, San Mateo Atenco and Amecameca.

So far in the administration of Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez, more than 11,000 users have been assisted at the three Ciudad Mujeres sites, who have received 52,000 services through the available services aimed at immediate first contact assistance; empowerment; comprehensive services; education; health; community, culture and sports. These are the necessary tools to achieve economic autonomy and build life projects free of violence.

With The Power to Serve, Ciudad Mujeres contributes to the fulfillment of the lines of action established in the Transversal Axis 1. Gender Equality of the State Development Plan 2023-2029; under three fundamental axes: attention, prevention and empowerment, SeMujeres advances in its work and execution of actions focused in favor of the women of Mexico.

The locations of the centers, thanks to a territorial strategy, have been able to impact a greater number of women, adolescents and girls from different communities and localities.

In La Paz they serve users from the Valle de México region, mainly from Chicoloapan, Chimalhuacán, Ixtapaluca, Nezahualcóyotl, Valle de Chalco and La Paz. The Amecameca branch benefits women from the Los Volcanes region, mainly from the municipalities of Juchitepec, Atlautla, Cocotitlán, Ozumba, Ayapango and Amecameca; while in San Mateo Atenco, comprehensive care is provided to women from the Toluca Valley region, mainly from Chapultepec, Tenango del Valle, Toluca, Lerma, Mexicaltzingo, Metepec, Ocoyoacacac, Tianguistenco and San Mateo Atenco.

The three Ciudad Mujeres have specialized services aimed at assisting women in situations of gender violence, such as social work, legal advice, psychological counseling, reception of complaints, follow-up brigades; in addition to training, workshops and courses for entrepreneurship, certification of primary, secondary and high school education, support in civil registration, as well as activities aimed at the promotion of culture.
