EdoMéx and Nafin to replace cabs more than 10 years old with hybrid or electric vehicles / @Edomex >>>
#Edoméx.- The Government of Mrs. Delfina Gómez Álvarez, through the Secretariat of Mobility (Semov), signed a collaboration agreement with Nacional Financiera (Nafin), to replace public transportation units that are more than 10 years old, in their cab modality, with more efficient and less polluting vehicles.
Daniel Sibaja González, Secretary of Mobility, explained that the Government of the State of Mexico will invest 50 million pesos and will deliver 400 scrapping bonds for up to 80 thousand pesos to the carriers that join the program, and NAFIN will contribute 24 million pesos, in complementary support of 45 thousand pesos to acquire hybrid units and 80 thousand pesos for electric vehicles, that is to say, a total of 125 thousand pesos for hybrids and 160 thousand pesos for electric vehicles.
He indicated that with these actions a historical debt with the concessionaires is fulfilled and it shows that the Government of Mrs. Delfina Gómez Álvarez considers the transportation companies as her best allies to transform mobility in the State of Mexico, after decades of abandonment, where the Vehicle Recycling Program was inactive and no support was provided to modernize the units, making them obsolete, dangerous for users and highly polluting.
Accompanied by Paulina Moreno García, Secretary of Finance of the State of Mexico, and Ismael Villanueva Zúñiga, head of the Emissions and International Relations Unit of Nacional Financiera, Daniel Sibaja González commented that, with the Nafin Sustainable Fund Agreement, the first stage of the Public Transportation Taxi Vehicle Fleet Replacement Program begins, which will facilitate financing and guarantee the necessary support for the implementation of improvements in transportation.
He commented that of the 50 million pesos that the Government of the State of Mexico will allocate, 32 million pesos will be used to fund scrapping bonds; 10 million pesos will be applied as a guarantee for the credits that will be granted and 8 million pesos for the operation of the program.
He also mentioned that through the Sistema de Transporte Masivo y Teleférico del Estado de México (Sitramytem), he is assisting in the negotiations between Nafin and the trustees so that mass transportation concessionaires can access the benefits of the Program for the Achievement of the national objectives regarding climate change in the Transportation Sector in Mexico.
