#GobiernoDeMéxico.- During the morning conference: “Las Mañaneras del pueblo”, led by the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the Health Sector Work Program 2024 – 2030 was presented, which consists of five main goals: prioritize health promotion; increase the quality of medical care; strengthen IMSS-Bienestar; guarantee that all clinics and hospitals have medicines, supplies and equipment; and modernize and integrate the health sector into a single system.
In this regard, the Secretary of Health, David Kershenobich Stalnikowitz, stated that prevention and health promotion are an important component of a government plan, and therefore efforts will be aimed at preventing diseases through the access of Mexicans to all health services. In addition, to modernize and integrate the health sector so that all people receive timely medical attention in any public unit.
“We want to strengthen IMSS-Bienestar to attend to the population without social security and we want to guarantee that all clinics and hospitals have the medicines, supplies and equipment to fully attend to the population,” he said.
The Undersecretary for Integration and Development of the health sector, Eduardo Clark García Dobarganes, detailed some of the actions that will be carried out to comply with the five strategic points that make up the health sector program for the next six years.
He emphasized that the priority will be health promotion, disease prevention and vaccination, for which the following actions will be implemented: reduction in the percentage of children with childhood obesity; increase in the percentage of diagnoses of chronic diseases; increase in the number of patients who have a routine control in their health units; strengthening of universal vaccination coverage in children and adults; and increase in the number of pregnant women who receive medical follow-up.
To strengthen the quality of medical care, waiting times in public sector hospitals and clinics will be reduced through the implementation of full-time medical units with health clinics available seven days a week, the standardization of care protocols and the strengthening of the role of nurses.
