#IMSS.- The Director General of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Zoé Robledo, informed that from 2019 to 2023, a historic strategy was undertaken to replace obsolete equipment and acquire new equipment for hospitals and medical units, which meant an investment of 25,718 million pesos.

During the press conference led by the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the head of Social Security recalled that in 2021 a Diagnostic Census of Medical Units was carried out to identify the main needs and risks for conservation, rehabilitation, infrastructure and equipment in order to allocate resources strategically.

Zoé Robledo announced that by 2024 the investment in replacement and improvement of medical equipment amounts to 5,068 million pesos to acquire 6,416 medical equipment, which in the last quarter of this year has been distributed in 517 medical units, that is, 256 hospitals and 252 Family Medicine Units (UMF).

He detailed that the replacement and purchase of state-of-the-art medical equipment includes: 455 electrocauteries, 381 anesthesia machines, 343 vital signs monitors, 320 radiant heat cribs, 277 gynecological-obstetric ultrasounds, 277 double surgical lamps, 270 incubators for newborns and 264 general surgery tables.

In addition to larger equipment such as angiographs, X-rays and specialized laboratories for some services of the national medical centers, among others.

The General Director of IMSS, Zoé Robledo, reiterated the Institute’s commitment to provide specialized services with quality and warmth.
