#EstadoDeMéxico.- With the aim of strengthening the link between higher education students and the productive sector, the Government of the State of Mexico (GEM), through the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (SECTI), held the First Agri-Food Summit, an event that explored global trends in food and emerging techniques applied to agricultural production.
Miguel Ángel Hernández Espejel, head of the SECTI, highlighted the importance of the food industry for the present and future of humanity, and stressed the need to apply state-of-the-art techniques in the agricultural sector, improve food quality and, with social responsibility, promote better nutrition for citizens, in line with the principles of the New Mexican School (NEM).
The First Agri-Food Summit, held at the Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Villa Guerrero, was attended, both in person and virtually, by students and teachers from various higher education institutions that make up the Agroindustrial Educational Node, such as the Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Chicoloapan, the Universidad Mexiquense del Bicentenario and the Universidad Tecnológica del Valle de Toluca.
Participants put their knowledge into practice in workshops focused on areas such as sustainable production, food processing, food safety and entrepreneurship. In addition, the Summit consolidated the Agroindustrial Educational Node as a benchmark in the training of highly qualified professionals to face the challenges of the agri-food sector.
