#Atizapán, #Edoméx.- In three years, Atizapán de Zaragoza went from being one of the 10 most insecure municipalities in the State of Mexico to the one with the best perception of security in the State of Mexico, thanks to the government actions of the Municipal President, Pedro Rodríguez Villegas, and to the security work entrusted to the Municipal Public Security and Transit Department headed by Fabián Ricardo Gómez Calcáneo, Lieutenant of the Naval Justice Service and Director of the Atizapán department.
The Mayor has recognized the work carried out by the corporation throughout the municipal administration and that, according to figures from the National Survey of Urban Public Safety (ENSU) published by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), have managed to lower the perception of insecurity by citizens, which went from 75% in January 2022 to 50.6% in the last quarter of 2024.
This result indicates that the figure is the lowest in the last 33 months, leaving behind the 53.2 percent of the immediately preceding quarter and placing it, once again, below the national average, which from July to September of this year was 58.6 percent.
Another of the most significant rates that have been decreasing in the Municipality is the crime of vehicle theft, due to the strategies that have been carried out through the use of technology, the way of working and the deployment of the elements in the field.
In recent months, according to information from the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM), the work on vehicle theft decreased by 76.2 percent in less than three years.
The Third Government Report of the Mayor of Atizapán details the most relevant actions in the area of security that have strengthened this area in the municipality and that guarantee an environment where citizens live in peace and trust that the institutions in charge of order and protection work efficiently.
