#SECTUR.- The Undersecretary of Tourism, Sebastián Ramírez Mendoza concluded a work tour in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Oaxaca, and the Region of Los Tuxtlas, Veracruz, to promote Community Tourism projects.
Accompanied by authorities and representatives of the Technical Secretariat of the Inter-Oceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec; of the Ministry of Tourism of Oaxaca; as well as directors and professors of the Technological Institute of Oaxaca, the Technological Institute of the Etla Valley and the Higher Technological Institute of San Andrés Tuxtla, the Undersecretary of Tourism held important working meetings with producers, artisans, craftsmen, tourism service providers, MSMEs, tourist guides and different actors of the tourism sector.
The above, he said, allowed him to learn first-hand about projects developed with communities that care for the rainforest, the ocean and cultural traditions. “We have been visiting many Community Tourism projects to listen to the people, because we can make a Community Tourism policy if we come to know their projects and know what is needed,” he said.
Likewise, he added that these meetings with the great tourist family in the communities allow him to know the needs, areas of opportunity and their vast tourist offer, and thus, to present them a national policy of Community Tourism in next meetings.
He stressed that, on the instructions of the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, Community Tourism is a priority of this administration. “The tourism to which we are going to dedicate more resources, more effort, the one that is going to be the protagonist, is going to be the tourism of the communities” he pointed out.
