#EstadoDeMéxico.- As of January 1, the new mayors of the State of Mexico must participate daily in the Coordination Tables for the Construction of Peace, a space that serves authorities from the three levels of government in taking joint security measures.

The Secretary General of Government, Horacio Duarte Olivares, highlighted that these tables have been fundamental in achieving the reduction of 13 of the 14 crimes considered of high impact in the entity during 2024, according to data from the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM).

During the swearing in of the new mayors of Tenango del Valle, Roberto Bautista Arellano, and Atizapán, Emilio Salas Perea, the state secretary assured that the active participation of the municipal presidents is key, since it is there that strategies are defined to guarantee tranquility in the municipalities.

Arellano, the new mayor of Tenango, assured that he will work in coordination with the state and federal government to implement security policies.

For his part, Salas Perea emphasized that his administration will prioritize listening to the population and strengthening social peace from the municipal territory.

The state government emphasized that joint and coordinated work is fundamental to combat violence and generate better living conditions in the State of Mexico.

The Security Roundtables have been key in strengthening the security strategy, as they have coordinated operations such as ‘Enjambre’ against corruption of public officials and recently ‘Atarraya’, against illegal alcohol sales establishments.
