“Today’s result is important, it is 16 percent less homicides from September to December, it is a work that sometimes is not visible every day, but it is a great work of the Security Cabinet. Of course we have to work every day because here it can go up again if one is not aware of what is being done, but there is a marked strategy and there is a permanent daily work, and a commitment of the team of the Government of Mexico, of the Attorney General of the Republic.
“With all the problems we had in the Judicial Power, because it must be said, these are very important results that have to do with a strategy that we set and for this year the objective is to continue with this trend of decreasing and working every day”, she highlighted in the morning conference: ‘Las mañaneras del pueblo’ (The people’s mornings).
The Chief of the Federal Executive assured that the National Security Strategy seeks to build peace, particularly from the Attention to the causes, avoiding that young people, boys and girls see violence as a life perspective.
“It is up to us to avoid and pay attention to the causes so that there is no apology for violence, we build peace”, she added.
He explained that the recent National Firearms Commerce and Trafficking Assessment (NFCTA) of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) of the US Department of Justice, recognizes the trafficking of weapons from the US to Mexico, so in continuity with the lawsuit filed by the government of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador against companies producing weapons, will seek to establish a dialogue with the administration of President-elect Donald Trump to address this issue.
