Starting in February, gender violence cases will be assigned to special courts in the State of Mexico / @Edomex >>>
#EstadoDeMéxico.- In a joint effort between the Government of Mrs. Delfina Gómez Álvarez and the Judiciary of the State of Mexico, as of February 1, family lawsuits filed by the Secretariat of Women (SeMujeres) will be heard in specialized courts of the Judicial Districts of the State of Mexico.
This new strategy will expedite the attention of cases of violence affecting girls, adolescents and women. The measure is supported by Circular No. 04/2025 published last January 15 in the Government Gazette, whose purpose is to reduce waiting times, simplify procedures and guarantee an efficient follow-up of cases, ensuring that all women have access to justice in an environment that respects their rights.
The work of the jurisdictional bodies will also be optimized by scheduling consecutive hearings; simplifying procedures and communication formalities; as well as generating specific actions to address the procedures, according to their nature or need. The jurisdictional bodies are distributed throughout all the Judicial Districts of the State of Mexico.
Meanwhile, the cases initiated by the Secretariat for Women before the implementation of this measure will continue to be processed in the corresponding jurisdictional bodies, until their resolution, with measures that avoid the imbalance in the workload.
Mónica Chávez Durán, head of SeMujeres emphasized that this initiative seeks to improve the judicial response and reinforce the integral accompaniment that the agency grants to women in a situation of violence.
This support is available at the Attention Units for Women in Situations of Violence (UNIDAS); at the Shelters for women and their children, and at the Shelter for women of sexual diversity.
