Mexico reaffirms its commitment to strengthen integration, development and security along the shared border with Guatemala / @SRE_mx >>>
#SRE.- Raquel Serur, Undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), made a two-day working visit to Mexico’s border with Guatemala to learn about the progress of some priority projects focused on guaranteeing a secure and modern border, with efficient management of migratory flows and which generates well-being and shared prosperity.
The official held working meetings with Mexican and Guatemalan authorities and international organizations involved in Mexico’s relations with other countries.
On the instructions of Foreign Minister Juan Ramón de la Fuente, the Undersecretary of the SRE made this visit to the southern border to reaffirm the Mexican Government’s commitment to strengthen integration, development and security on our shared border with Guatemala.
This meeting also corresponds to the directives of the President of Mexico, who has stated on several occasions that this border constitutes a space for exchange and opportunity for all.
At the current juncture, the southern border takes on greater strategic relevance. It is essential to modernize its infrastructure and management, in conjunction with Guatemala.
Accompanied by the General Director for Central America and the Caribbean, Carlos Imanol Belausteguigoitia Reyes, and by the Mexican Consul in Tecún Umán, José Luis Alvarado Valenzuela, Undersecretary Serur toured the Dr. Rodolfo Robles and Luis Cabrera international bridges, located in the area of Ciudad Hidalgo and Tecún Umán.
