Secretary of Economy meets with Canacero to strengthen the domestic steel industry / @SE_mx >>>

#SE.- The Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard, met today with executives of the National Chamber of the Iron and Steel Industry (Canacero), with the objective of strengthening the Mexican steel industry.

During the meeting, the Secretary presented the new Steel Trade Monitor in Mexico, a key tool for improving transparency, traceability and control in the trade of steel products, which allows the industry and the government to access detailed information on steel imports and exports.

The benefits of this tool will be transparency; identifying the country of origin of imports and exports, as well as their volume; steel traceability to guarantee better supervision of the origin and quality of the material; and providing sufficient commercial intelligence to identify risks and prevent unfair practices in the steel trade. With the implementation of this Monitor, Mexico reaffirms its commitment to a more transparent, secure and competitive foreign trade.

Likewise, we will work with the industry to align investments and strengthen national content within the framework of Plan Mexico, through strategic investments that will make the sector one of the most competitive in the world, endorsing investments of more than eight billion dollars in the coming years.
