Governor Delfina Gómez rescues dignified spaces for Mexican athletes; in Rayón she remodels the “Dionicio Cerón” Sports Complex / @delfinagomeza @Edomex >>>

#EstadoDeMéxico.- The Governor of the State of Mexico, Delfina Gómez Álvarez, delivered the remodeling of the Rayón Sports Unit for the benefit of more than 47 thousand Mexicans, thus fulfilling a heartfelt demand of the population of this region, cradle of outstanding figures of national athletics, such as Dionicio Cerón, the only athlete from Mexico who won the London Marathon three times in a row.

“In this emblematic work of 55,159 square meters, 23.4 million pesos were invested, benefiting 47,934 neighbors of the region, in addition to generating 1,820 direct and indirect jobs,” said Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez.

She highlighted that the sports complex pays tribute to Dionicio Cerón Bizarro, a Mexican athlete from the municipality of Rayón, who won the London Marathon in the men’s category in 1994, 1995 and 1996; he also represented Mexico in the Olympic Games on two occasions and in 1995 he won the silver medal in the World Athletics Championship.

The State Governor explained that half of the program of works carried out by the Government of the State of Mexico in the 125 municipalities are aimed at rehabilitating or modernizing spaces to promote physical, sports and cultural activities.

“Carrying out public works with social sense oriented to the rehabilitation, modernization and construction of markets, civic squares, parks, sports facilities, schools, is to put The Power to Serve to guarantee the well-being of the population of the State of Mexico”, highlighted Mrs. Delfina Gómez Álvarez.

The “Dionicio Cerón” Sports Unit serves four thousand users per week, with sports activities such as soccer, basketball, volleyball, athletics, Tae Kwon Do, kick boxing, boxing, fronton, swimming, zumba and spinning; so this remodeling is part of the public works program in urban areas, providing safe, illuminated environments, with waiting and coexistence areas.
