Plastics industry to join the Made in Mexico campaign / @SE_mx >>>

#Economy.- In the face of current challenges, the Ministry of Economy is promoting the productivity and competitiveness of Mexico’s manufacturing industry -including the plastics industry- with actions such as strengthening domestic supply in value chains and supporting domestic companies to develop new capabilities.

This was stated today by Gertrudis Mercado, General Director of Light Industries of the Ministry of Economy, at the inauguration of Plastimagen, the largest plastics industry exhibition in Latin America and the fourth largest in the world.

For her part, Marlene Fragoso, president of the National Association of Plastics Industries (ANIPAC), announced that her group has begun the process with the Ministry of Economy to obtain the Made in Mexico seal, the government campaign that promotes national pride and the consumption of products manufactured in the country.

According to Anipac, there are almost 7,000 companies in the plastics industry in Mexico, representing 3.1% of the manufacturing GDP, since the inputs produced by this industry are used in sectors as varied as the automotive, medical equipment, aerospace, food and beverages, electronics and construction, among others.

Also participating in the inauguration of Plastimagen were Gabriel Santos Ruiz, president of the Mexican Association of Packaging (AMEE); Rubén Muñoz, director of responsibility and sustainable development of the National Association of the Chemical Industry (ANIQ) and Adrián López, general manager of Informa Markets.
