Classics on the big screen returns with a season dedicated to Edgar Allan Poe / @cultura_mx >>>

#Culture.- The emblematic series Classics on the Big Screen returns to the screens of the Cineteca Nacional México to present a selection of films that pay tribute to Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849), poet of the gloomy and macabre, creator of obsessive and tormented characters, inventor of the detective genre.

Allan Poe is an inspiration in numerous film adaptations throughout the history of the seventh art. Poems like The Raven and stories like The Tell-Tale Heart and The Fall of the House of Usher are horror classics of the big screen.

As a tribute, the Cineteca Nacional México has prepared a special selection of 18 films that include silent works, films from the golden age of Universal Pictures horror, as well as Roger Corman’s long-running series and the screening of La mansión de la locura (Juan López Moctezuma, Mexico, 1973), a remastered classic of Mexican cinema.

There will also be musical screenings of the classics The Avenging Conscience (David W. Griffith, USA, 1914) and The Fall of the House of Usher (Jean Epstein, France, 1928). There will also be special screenings with live music by pianist and composer Deborah Silberer.
