#Tlalnepantla, #Edoméx.- As part of “World Water Day”, the Decentralized Public Organization for the Provision of Drinking Water, Sewerage and Sanitation Services of Tlalnepantla (OPDM) organized a cleanup day of the San Javier River in which more than 300 residents of the Izcalli Pirámide Housing Unit participated in coordination with public servants.

On the instructions of municipal president Raciel Pérez Cruz, this action was carried out through the Water Culture and Sustainable Water Projects area, which resulted in the removal of more than 30 cubic meters of solid urban waste.

The general director of OPDM, Alberto Valdés Rodríguez, indicated that the objective of this day is to make citizens aware of the importance of taking care of water resources and the environment to ensure a better future for future generations.

Plastics, cardboard containers, paper, glass, fabrics and other waste were removed from the riverbed to mitigate the negative impact that pollution has on ecosystems and bodies of water.

The official underscored the importance of promoting collaboration between citizens and government to face environmental challenges by protecting the natural environment and taking care of public spaces.

He added that these actions seek to prevent incidents before the upcoming rainy season to avoid floods that put the inhabitants of Tlalnepantla at risk or affect their property.

Valdés Rodríguez called on the population to become aware and assume a responsible attitude, avoiding littering in bodies of water, streets and sewers, “only with a joint effort we can ensure a sustainable future and protect the vital liquid for future generations”.
