#Tlalnepantla, #Edoméx.- The security strategy implemented by Mayor Raciel Pérez Cruz to reduce crime in the communities yielded its first positive results, according to figures from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System.

In an appearance before the city council, the head of the General Police Station for Proximity and Citizen Security, Jorge Alberto Gómez Estrella, reported that a total of 620 high-value crimes were recorded during February of this year, compared to the same month in 2024, when 733 crimes were recorded, representing a 15 percent decrease in the number of crimes committed.

Regarding vehicle theft, the commissioner reported that 174 stolen vehicles were reported in February of last year, compared to the 149 cars reported stolen this year, representing a 14 percent decrease in this crime.

He added that one of the strategies that has led to the reduction of crimes is the creation of neighborhood networks, which generate proximity with the public. «What we do is introduce the officers in charge of that perimeter where we hold meetings, from the most basic operational department to sector and regional heads.»

Gómez Estrella indicated that within the corporation, there are essential areas for crime prevention, such as the Strategic Analysis Subdirectorate, which is responsible for operations and constant communication with residents to promptly address any eventuality. Also, through the intelligence area for searching for people, cases of disappearance are reported for their prompt location and reintegration into their families.

He noted that, technologically, the units have a GPS system for real-time monitoring, and some even have three cameras that monitor the front, another the rear, and another the interior of the vehicle.
