#EstadoDeMéxico.- The government of Professor Delfina Gómez Álvarez recognizes the various media outlets as key allies in documenting the transformation process the State of Mexico is undergoing. Their work is essential for democracy and institutional transparency.

Representing the three branches of government, Nayeli Gómez Castillo, General Coordinator of Social Communication, led the commemoration of the 213th anniversary of the first edition of the insurgent newspaper «El Ilustrador Nacional» and the Day of the Mexican Journalist in Sultepec.

«The government and the media serve the same purpose: the well-being of the people of Mexico. That’s why I want to tell you loud and clear that we will not turn a blind eye to you, fellow journalists, nor, of course, to the people of the State of Mexico. We will continue to open doors and promote dialogue to build the State of Mexico we all desire,» stated Nayeli Gómez Castillo, General Coordinator of Social Communication.

She reiterated the commitment of Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez’s administration to freedom of expression. Therefore, on February 6, 2025, the State of Mexico Congress repealed the crime of contempt of court from the state Penal Code with the goal of creating a favorable environment for the exercise of human rights.

“The responsibility of being a journalist at this stage of Mexico’s public life is admirable. On behalf of the Governor, but also of the people of the State of Mexico, I want to express our sincere gratitude and recognize the crucial work you do every day in each of our coverage,” emphasized Nayeli Gómez Castillo.

He specified that media representatives from the 100 Journalists for the State of Mexico group have provided support at the three forums held in Texcoco, Tlalnepantla, and Chalco. This is an unprecedented and historic exercise aimed at reviewing the Law for the Comprehensive Protection of Journalists and Human Rights Defenders, in order to guarantee better conditions for journalists through coordinated efforts across all three levels of government.
