The State Population Council promotes the use of demographic information for the design of municipal public policies / @Edomex >>>

#EstadoDeMéxico.- During the first four months of the year, the General Secretariat of Government of the State of Mexico, through the State Population Council (COESPO), has visited 63 of the 125 municipalities in the State of Mexico to promote the alignment of their public policies with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda at the local level through demographic tools.

This action recognizes municipal governments as key actors for sustainable development and the integration of the 2030 Agenda under its guiding principle: «leave no one behind, leave no one out,» promoted by Governor Delfina Gómez in the State of Mexico Development Plan 2023–2029.

According to Lorena Ruiz Celaya, Technical Secretary of COESPO, the main objective is to promote the use of demographic information to improve municipal management and subsequently formalize the signing of coordination agreements that will allow progress toward a more just, inclusive, and egalitarian society.

These agreements contribute to the integration of Municipal Development Plans through the exchange of up-to-date information on the population. In this way, COESPO generates sociodemographic scenarios that serve as a basis for the development, implementation, and evaluation of municipal public policies.

With these initiatives, COESPO reaffirms its commitment to participatory planning, with a territorial and human rights approach, that addresses the real needs of the population of the State of Mexico and contributes to the fulfillment of the 2030 Agenda at the local level.
