IMSS guarantees insurance to National Sugarcane Growers’ Unions with the signing of agreements for the 2025-2026 agricultural cycle / @Tu_IMSS >>>

#IMSS.- The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) signed the Insurance and Contribution Payment Agreements with the National Sugarcane Growers’ Unions to guarantee the continuity of the insurance system for sugarcane producers and temporary farm workers for the 2025-2026 agricultural cycle.

Luisa Obrador Garrido Cuesta, head of the Directorate of Incorporation and Collection (DIR), who represented the Director General of the IMSS, Zoé Robledo, recognized those who participated in consolidating the signing of these agreements, which took place at the Oaxtepec Vacation Center theater in front of more than 400 leaders and workers from the country’s sugarcane industry.

«We feel very committed to the responsibility of their operation, to applying and ensuring the utmost transparency reflected in the agreements,» she emphasized.

She reported that by February 2025, more than 41,000 temporary sugarcane workers across the country will be incorporated into the Institute’s social security system, and nearly 70,000 sugarcane producers will be insured.

The head of the DIR noted that, even with climate change and droughts, Mexico produced 4.7 million tons in the last cycle and positioned itself as the eighth largest sugarcane producer globally.

«For the Institute, being the eagle that embraces sugarcane families gives us great pleasure,» she said.

In her message, the head of the IMSS in Morelos, Dr. Mónica Arriaga Arroyo, emphasized that one of the directorate general’s priority objectives is to extend social security benefits to the entire population, including the Mexican countryside, salaried, temporary, and permanent workers in agricultural activities.

The agreements were signed by the head of the DIR; the president of the National Union of Sugarcane Growers, A.C. Carlos Blackaller Ayala, president of the National Confederation of Sugarcane Producers, A.C., and Javier Sánchez Chávez, president of the National Union of Sugarcane Producers, A.C.
