#Tlalpan, #CDMX.- With the goal of improving the operating conditions, safety, and development of public markets, the Tlalpan City Hall formally established the Public Markets Committee, a space for ongoing dialogue between authorities and representatives of the 21 markets and nine concentrations in the district.

Led by Diego Matus, territorial coordinator and chief advisor, representing Mayor Gaby Osorio, the session established the foundation for joint work between authorities and leaders of the public supply centers. The objective is to address the main needs of these spaces, which are fundamental to the economic and social life of the communities.

During the meeting, which was also attended by members of the mayor’s office, mechanisms for effective institutional coordination were defined, aimed at addressing the main needs of the tenants. Among the topics discussed were security, civil protection, well-being, and contracts with the Ministry of Economic Development (Sedeco), as well as specific requests regarding regulation and maintenance.

The committee will work within the framework of the «Hand in Hand 24/7. Markets that Work and Transform» program, promoted by the Tlalpan government to ensure decent and safe conditions in these spaces. As part of this effort, the Director General of Legal Affairs, Aldo Saldaña, presented a proposal for internal regulations to regulate the committee’s activities and establish clear rules for its operation.
