#EstadoDeMéxico.- To promote the preservation of biodiversity in the forested area of the State of Mexico, the Forest Protection Agency (Probosque) signed a collaboration agreement with the civil association CADENA México to develop joint projects in ecosystem restoration, conservation, and management.
Alejandro Sánchez Vélez, General Director of Probosque, emphasized that this strategic alliance will enable the training of human capital, technological development, and the promotion of forestry activities. It will also promote the exchange of experiences in firefighting and the eradication of pests and diseases that will allow for the conservation and maintenance of the State of Mexico’s forests.
«We are going to fight to more efficiently combat pests in forests and hydrologically restore our watersheds. Now we want to train people in restoration, and then we will train them in sanitation. We are going to make much more progress. We have planned it and we know where we are going to go to achieve these goals and comply with the State Development Plan formulated by our Governor (Delfina Gómez Álvarez),» stated Alejandro Sánchez Vélez.
For her part, Orly Romano Grobeisen, Director of the CADENA Mexico Search and Rescue Team, noted that the civil association, dedicated to disaster and crisis prevention and assistance, has a presence in approximately 37 countries. She reported that this collaboration will strengthen the institutional and operational capacity of both agencies through refresher and training programs for volunteers in forest firefighting.
«Today, this cause brings us together: the protection of our forests and strengthening the response. We know that one part is fighting, but another is prevention, which is a silent task, but it is just as important as fighting,» asserted Orly Romano Grobeisen.
