Chalco Trolleybus has surveillance cameras and free Wi-Fi for its 3 million users
#EstadoDeMéxico.– The new Chalco Trolleybus will operate a modern service with onboard video surveillance cameras, free Wi-Fi, and zero-emission vehicles, benefiting more than three million residents of the eastern part of the State of Mexico.
“All vehicles have interior cameras, there are virtually no blind spots, so passengers are fully monitored,” explained Rebeca Ortega Reyes, technical liaison for the General Directorate of the Mass Transportation and Cable Car System (Sitramytem).
The vehicles are 18 meters long, reach speeds of up to 60 kilometers per hour, have a capacity for 142 passengers, and have an electric charge that lasts 75 kilometers. Furthermore, they do not generate environmental or noise pollution, fulfilling the commitment of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez to offer clean and safe transportation while ensuring environmental protection.
“The buses will have Wi-Fi access throughout the route. Universal accessibility is also available, meaning people with mobility or visual disabilities will have the necessary tools to access transportation,” said Rebeca Ortega Reyes.
The trolleybus will travel 18.5 kilometers across 15 stations, facilitating the mobility of residents of the State of Mexico from Chalco, Valle de Chalco, La Paz, and surrounding areas, allowing for integration with the Mexico City Metro, Cablebús, and Trolleybus services. The journey time will go from two hours to a record 40 minutes.
In its first phase, 102 buses will operate to serve 120,000 users daily, and as demand grows, 194 trolleybuses will operate to transport up to 230,000 people daily. The service will operate from 4:30 a.m. to midnight.
With this project, Professor Delfina Gómez Álvarez and Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo are meeting a long-standing need and bringing decent, accessible, and modern transportation to those most in need in the Eastern Region of the State of Mexico.
