#Veracruz.- To strengthen the country’s energy sovereignty, Governor Rocío Nahle García and the CEO of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), Víctor Rodríguez Padilla, agreed on the importance of adding technical, logistical, and operational capabilities so that the industry can regain the strategic role it has historically played in the region and the country.

To this end, they led a tour with federal and state officials of the Cangrejera Petrochemical Complex, whose ethylene plant generates 1,700 tons of ethylene-derived products per day.

Aromatics such as benzene, toluene, and xylene are raw materials for the production of plastics, fibers, synthetic rubbers, additives, solvents, resins, paints, varnishes, and adhesives, among others.

Then they moved to Pro-Agroindustria, a leading producer of urea (fertilizer), designed with a development plan to supply the domestic market in an effort to rescue Mexican agriculture. It currently has a renovated plant in operation with a capacity of up to 1,500 tons per day, making it the largest producer in Mexico.

Finally, they arrived at the Cosoleacaque Petrochemical Complex, which has four ammonia plants to obtain the raw material for urea production.
