#Izcalli, #Edoméx.- During his weekly press conference, Daniel Serrano, mayor of Cuautitlán Izcalli, spoke about the joint operation carried out by CONAGUA and the National Guard in the municipality. This operation resulted in the closure of a water well controlled by a private individual who was extracting water illegally, that is, without a concession title.
CONAGUA stated in a statement, the operation was carried out following a citizen complaint. In this regard, Daniel Serrano recalled that during the transition period last year, the outgoing municipal administration acknowledged that they had no control over this infrastructure and, furthermore, failed to provide proof of having taken any action to recover it.
Consequently, the well was not handed over at the start of the current administration. This infrastructure, located in the Cuamatla Industrial Zone, is estimated to extract 250,000 liters of water daily through water trucks. Therefore, the mayor stated, they will seek to reincorporate this water resource into the municipal distribution network.
“There are always mechanisms to recover resources for the benefit of the people; not everything is confrontation. The next step is to establish a working group with CONAGUA to present our concession title and request that it be returned to the municipal authority through our water authority,” said Daniel Serrano. He also expressed his gratitude for the completion of the preventive work at the El Ángulo Dam, in coordination with CAEM and the municipalities of Atizapán de Zaragoza and Nicolás Romero.
In total, 20,000 m3 of silt was removed from this reservoir, which represents 25% more than the initial goal set through the inter-municipal coordination agreement.
