Esteva Medina reviews the Comprehensive Plan for the East with councilors from the State of Mexico / @SICT_mx >>>

#SICT.- The Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation (SICT), Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, held a working meeting with mayors from 10 municipalities in the State of Mexico to follow up on the Comprehensive Plan for the East, «Love is Paid with Love,» as instructed by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.

Representatives from the governments of Tlalnepantla, Nezahualcóyotl, Chalco, Chicoloapan, Chimalhuacán, Ecatepec, Ixtapaluca, La Paz, Texcoco, and Valle de Chalco Solidaridad participated in the meeting, as well as the Undersecretary of Infrastructure, Juan Carlos Fuentes Orrala; the head of the Railway Transport Regulatory Agency (ARTF), Andrés Lajous Loaeza; and the director of the Edomex SICT Center, Francisco Quintero.

During the meeting, progress in mobility, infrastructure, and urban improvement was reviewed. Among the notable public transportation projects discussed were the operation and future expansion of the Chalco-Santa Marta Elevated Trolleybus to Ixtapaluca; the implementation of the Chimalhuacán-Múzquiz Cable Car; and Line 9 of the Periférico Oriente-Ciudad Jardín Trolleybus.

Secretary Esteva reported that work is underway to identify and resolve problematic road junctions, in coordination with the Mexican Institute of Transportation (IMT) and the ARTF (Mexican Transportation and Transport Federation), in order to streamline travel in the area.

Currently, there are 2.7 million daily trips between the eastern part of the State of Mexico and Mexico City. Of these, 71 percent are made by public transportation. Average travel times are 1 hour 43 minutes to the capital and 48 minutes within the eastern part of the state.
