#SRE.- Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs María Teresa Mercado Pérez made a working visit to Brussels to co-chair, along with Olof Skoog, Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs at the European External Action Service (EEAS), the 10th Mexico-European Union High-Level Political Dialogue.

Rogelio Granguillhome, Mexican Ambassador to the EU, and Brian Glynn, Executive Director for the Americas of the EEAS, also participated in this meeting.

The meeting provided a comprehensive review of the state of the strategic partnership, focusing on building a fairer, rules-based international order.

Both parties agreed on the urgency of working for international peace and security, based on full respect for international law, revitalizing multilateralism, and reaffirmed their commitment to the 2030 Agenda, climate action, health resilience, and gender equality.

The participants discussed progress in the negotiation of the Modernized Global Agreement (MGA) and agreed on the importance of moving toward its prompt signature and preparing for the 8th Mexico-EU Summit.

In addition, they identified priority projects to be promoted within the framework of the Global Gateway Initiative’s investment agenda, particularly those stemming from Plan Mexico. They also addressed the status of bilateral institutional dialogue mechanisms, including the success of the recent 31st session of the Mexico-EU Joint Parliamentary Committee.

They exchanged views on key international and regional issues and discussed preparations for the upcoming CELAC-EU Summit, to be held on November 9 and 10 in Santa Marta, Colombia.

The Undersecretary’s agenda was complemented by bilateral meetings, including a meeting with Belén Martínez Carbonell, Secretary-General of the EEAS, during which both parties reaffirmed the importance of the bilateral strategic partnership.

Together with Federal Health Secretary David Kershenobich, Undersecretary Mercado Pérez held a meeting with the Commissioner for Animal Health and Welfare, Olivér Várhelyi, to promote cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector and the institutionalization of a Mexico-EU Bilateral Dialogue on Health.
