#GobiernoDeMéxico.- Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo emphasized that the task of the new justices who will be appointed to the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) is not to act politically, but to deliver justice to all Mexicans.

“Their task upon arriving at the Court is not to act along partisan lines; their task is to deliver justice, regardless of their political orientation. Their task is not to act politically in the Court, as the current Court did; their task is to provide access to justice for all, regardless of who they vote for on election day,” she stated during the morning press conference, “Las mañaneras del pueblo” (The People’s Morning Press Conference).

The Chief Executive emphasized that on June 1, 2025, 13 million Mexicans voted to elect their judges, magistrates, and justices to the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), which is significantly greater than the votes received by each of the opposition parties.

She emphasized that the Mexican people expect that with the new composition of the Judiciary, access to justice will be completely different and that those charged with upholding justice have the obligation to adhere to norms, rules, and legal principles. «They must resolve and generate an environment of honesty and integrity, so that change can be seen in the Judiciary starting in September,» she stated.

Therefore, she asserted that the election of the Judiciary represents a fundamental transformation that strengthens democracy and also allowed Hugo Aguilar Ortiz, a Mixtec lawyer, to become a member of the country’s highest court. He also pointed out that the relationship with the SCJN will be one of respect for its autonomy.
