#EstadoDeMéxico.- With the «Let’s Clean Up Our State of Mexico» campaign, the State of Mexico government has removed more than 1,800 tons of trash and 15,000 tires from streets, rivers, and drainage ditches, Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez reported during a cleanup campaign at the Los Cuartos Dam in Naucalpan, where 10 tons of solid waste were removed.

«I invite the public to help us by not throwing trash anywhere, but rather depositing it where it belongs, because most of the garbage that accumulates is what prevents the flow of water. Just now, I was telling you it was 1,800 tons, so you can imagine what that means,» Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez stated.

Referring to the effects of the severe rains recorded last Monday, June 2, the state governor stated that there is ongoing support in coordination with authorities from all three levels of government.

“I spoke with the mayor of Los Reyes La Paz, who also had a hospital damaged, which the Secretary of Health [Macarena Montoya] is already addressing. We also have Civil Protection in San Mateo Atenco,” said Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez.

More than 700 state public servants, personnel from the municipalities of Naucalpan and Nicolás Romero, and local residents collaborated on the work at the Los Cuartos Dam.

In addition, specialized machinery was deployed, including an excavator, Hercules pumping equipment, dump trucks, a backhoe, two boats, and a HIAB crane truck from the State of Mexico Water Commission (CAEM), an agency of the state Water Secretariat.

A Goliath team, specialized in emergency response, was also deployed, along with a 25-person Tláloc Group camp where dam levels are constantly monitored.
