SSSTE Regional High Specialty Hospital in Torreon improves quality of life with knee surgeries / @ @ISSSTE_mx
#ISSSTE, #México. – Specialists at the High Specialty Regional Hospital (HRAE) in Torreón, Coahuila, of the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE), headed by General Director Martí Batres Guadarrama, improved the quality of life of 115 beneficiaries, between 55 and 70 years of age, by performing knee joint replacement surgeries.
Arturo Vasquez Salas, head of the Traumatology and Orthopedics Service at the HRAE in Torreon, explained that the surgeries, which were performed from April 7 to May 30 of this year, benefited patients from Durango and Chihuahua, diagnosed with severe joint damage.
“These were orthopedic surgeries for total knee joint replacement in cases of severe joint damage due to degenerative disease,” he said.
The specialist affirmed that thanks to these procedures, the beneficiaries experienced a decrease in pain in their joints, which allowed them to increase their mobility and quality of life, after a hospital recovery time of 48 hours.
«The hospital recovery time was 48 hours. The benefits of this type of procedure are joint pain relief, improved mobility and quality of life for the patient,» he shared.
