President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo highlighted that this 2025 is going to be engraved in Mexico’s history as the first year in which public resources are delivered directly to native peoples, during the Assembly of the Contribution Fund for Social Infrastructure for Indigenous and Afro-Mexican Peoples and Communities (FAISPIAM) in the municipality of Champotón, Campeche.

«That great historic reform is a product of the Fourth Transformation of Mexico’s public life, the second constitutional article recognizes the peoples and communities, but they had never received a budget in a direct way, until now, that is why 2025 is going to be engraved in Mexico’s history as the year in which indigenous and Afro-descendant peoples receive, for the first time, a budget.

“Before it was the federal budget, the state budget, the municipal budget and now, for the first time in history, the budget of indigenous and Afro-descendant communities,” he said.

She informed that there are more than 20 thousand assemblies throughout the country, where the communities of indigenous and Afro-Mexican peoples choose in which works the resources will be invested and designate a woman as treasurer to receive and administer the resources delivered by the Mexican Government directly and without intermediaries.
