The “Dra. Columba Rivera Osorio” General Hospital of the ISSSTE in Pachuca, Hidalgo, diagnoses sleep disorders with a respiratory polygraph / @martibatres @ @ISSSTE_mx
#ISSSTE, #México.– The “Dra. Columba Rivera Osorio” General Hospital (HG) in Pachuca, Hidalgo, affiliated with the Institute of Social Security and Services for State Workers (ISSSTE), headed by General Director Martí Batres Guadarrama, diagnosed a case of sleep disorder using the new respiratory polygraph, a state-of-the-art device available at the hospital.
The director of the “Dr. Columba Rivera Osorio” Hospital, José Roberto Medécigo Hernández, explained that the respiratory polygraph is a device that records various physiological signals related to breathing during sleep.
“This is an instrument that helps us address respiratory issues, diseases associated with sleep disorders. (…) Where a person has sleep disturbances, snores, and has episodes of not breathing at night, sometimes for very long periods of time,” he indicated.
The physician, also a specialist in Clinical Immunology and Allergy, stated that with the use of this device, it is possible to provide patients with treatments such as nocturnal oxygen therapy, thereby helping them improve their quality of life, strengthen prevention, and reduce the number of hospitalizations due to respiratory decompensation and cardiovascular diseases.
