President Claudia Sheinbaum begins profound transformation of the National Baccalaureate / @Claudiashein @GobiernoMX >>>

#FederalGovernment, #Mexico.- The Mexican Government, through the Ministry of Public Education (SEP), announced that within the framework of the New Mexican School (NEM), the new National Baccalaureate System (SNB) will come into effect in September. Students will be awarded two certificates: the General Baccalaureate, which will allow them to continue in Higher Education; and the Technological Baccalaureate, which will issue a technical certificate endorsed by a public higher education institution.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo emphasized that this represents a profound transformation of the country’s high schools, which for the first time recognizes students and their context and seeks to ensure they continue their studies upon completing high school.

«It’s a profound transformation of high school, and it’s for the good of young people. We want young people to stay in school, to love school. Instead of being on the streets at age 15, we want them to like school, to have the opportunity to study. At the same time, enrollment is being expanded so that young people who graduate from high school have the immediate option of enrolling in the National Baccalaureate. So, that starts this September,» he stated during the morning press conference, «The People’s Morning Conferences.»

He explained that the new SNB means increased enrollment for upper secondary education, but it’s also a new way of teaching that allows young people to have other alternatives so they don’t become involved with criminal groups.
